For the past 25 years, I have worked with children at the Elementary School level to build competencies and values as they unwrap possibilities for their future. This has included instruction in literacy, numeracy, and the sciences.  I bring with me extensive training and experience in implementing research-based reading and writing instruction in Kindergarten and First Grade, and endeavor to continue to help children gain tools needed to be successful participants in their school and community environments.

 

My desire is to partner with, educate, and encourage families and children concerning their perspective roles at the Preschool level in order to raise up children who not only love to learn, but who look forward with excitement to their formal schooling years.   I believe parents are the greatest teachers their children will ever have and that the first 5 years are pivotal times in helping children built foundations that will support learning for the rest of their lives.

 

Education does not begin in Kindergarten.  It begins the moment a child is born and I share the philosophy with the READY! for Kindergarten curriculum I implement in saying that all children are either asleep or learning.  There are targets that can be reached at every age level to ensure children are ready for Kindergarten. These are found in the areas of Language, Literacy, Math, Reasoning, and Social Emotional Connections.  At New Adventures this is supported while participating in what we call Intentional Play!
