ABOUT ROWDY
For the past 33 years I have worked with all ages of youth in a variety of settings to include: residential treatment facilities and public education. I have been a teacher, an administrator, a middle school and high school counselor, an intervention specialist and a psychoeducational advisor for elementary aged students conducting and writing assessments for qualifying special educational needs. I have been the Administrator/Counselor of an Alternative Education site for high school students receiving High School Diplomas and GED Certificates, and I have been an athletic coach at several different levels in numerous competitive sports.
At the heart of my experience is a belief in Positive Psychological principles and Self-determination Theory. It is my desire to consort with youth and families to assist in the transition of the youth into a healthy next. To plan adequately and reach to the next adventure in the most vigorous integrative imaginative way available that is realistic and achievable.
My Core Principals are rooted in a Strength-based Practice.
-
An absolute belief that every person has potential and therefore has unique strengths and capabilities.
-
The belief that what we focus on becomes our reality
-
We focus on strengths and interests, not past failures and shortcomings.
-
-
Positive and authentic change occurs in the context of authentic relationships
To that end we are influencing and changing the Life Trajectory of EACH youth with our interaction!
